Unlimited Power
Published in 1986 when Tony Robbins was only 25 years old, Unlimited Power: The New Science of Personal Achievement is Tony Robbins' first book. In the forward, One Minute Manager author Ken Blanchard wrote "I think this book has the capacity to be the definitive text in the human potential movement."
The back cover describes the book as "a revolutionary fitness book for the mind. It will show you, step by step, how to perform at your peak while gaining emotional and financial freedom, attaining leadership and self-confidence, and winning the cooperation of others. It will give you the knowledge and the courage to remake yourself and your world."
Divided into two sections, the modeling of human excellence and the ultimate success formula, Unlimited Power provides a new understanding of how our minds function, the effects of physiology on our daily lives, and provides insight and easy to use tools to take immediate control of and remake our lives. Does this sound too good to be true? Read on.
The Modeling of Human Excellence
The first half of Unlimited Power introduces the science behind many of Tony Robbins' discoveries, seven success triggers (e.g., passion, belief, mastery of communications, etc.), the seven "lies" of success, specific methods to run your brain for optimum results, the syntax (i.e. order) of success, how to elicit the strategies of others, importance of physiology in the mind/body system, and the role of energy.
Section one provides a tremendous amount of insight and specific tools to understand why and how to get exactly what you want out of life. In essence you'll learn how to proactively transform your life in a way that fits exactly what you want instead of sitting back while life happens to you. Most importantly, this is not pie in the sky, positive mental attitude, hope for the best motivation - it's rock-solid science. The strategies described in Unlimited Power have been around now for more than three decades and they're truly remarkable. Tony Robbins didn't invent the science behind these strategies, but he made it clearer and available to an enormous audience.
Sound revolutionary? It is. And it's also generally very simple and easy to understand. The concepts flow from one to the next, each building on the previous knowledge as you develop a deeper, more refined understanding from chapter to chapter.
The Ultimate Success Formula®
The second half of Unlimited Power provides specific skills for transforming your life beginning with an outstanding discussion of the how's and why's of goal setting and goal realization. Next is a chapter on the importance of precision in our communications with others and ourselves.
Other chapters include the magic or rapport, metaprograms (i.e., internal patterns we use to determine what we pay attention to), how to solve problems, reframing (i.e., the power of perspective), success anchors, leadership, value hierarchies (to establish congruence), five keys to wealth and happiness, power of persuasion and living excellence.
Again, each chapter builds upon previous knowledge until the reader is left with a deep understanding of how our mind/body work as a system to produce the results we're getting in our lives. More importantly, by giving the reader the tools to make quick, easy, and far-reaching changes, Unlimited Power provides a full set of tools for making massive positive changes in his/her life.
Who should read Unlimited Power? Anyone interested in a profound understanding of how to produce virtually any results s/he want in his/her life. The bottom line is that Unlimited Power will show you how to get less or none of what you don't want in your life, more of what you do want, all the while enjoying the process. The book is easy to understand, but the information is truly profound.
